- Chinese educator and communist party leader
- Republican revolutionist during the early 1900's and was forced to flee to Japan after the second revolution against Yuan Shikai in 1913
- In 1915, he found the Youth Journal and wrote articles alongside Li Dazhao, Hu Shih, and other politicians as a way to promote and spread a culture free from Confucius ideas
- in 1919 he converted to Marxism after the May Fourth Movement (a student led intellectual revolution) occurred
- 1920 found two Marxist groups and in 1921 leaders of these groups came to a consensus with other groups organized by Li Dazhao so that the Communist Party was found
